FRAMES
- Everything starts with the frame. Our frames consist of kiln dried hardwoods 1-1/4" thick when finished. They are cross braced, screwed, doweled, glued and corner blocked. Legs are an integral part of the frame, not screwed in later, unless they are "turned" or "tapered block" legs. In this case they are attached at the factory after upholstery.
SPRINGS
- Our standard construction uses sinuous springs mounted at 3" intervals, cross tied with three flexible coated steel wires. Additional springs are placed at the ends to avoid "tipping". The sides are then tied with nylon twine for a lasting base.
CUSHIONS
- Seat cushions are built with 1.8 to 2.5 lbs. density foam wrapped with dacron (two layers in our "Shabby Chic" collection) that has been sewn to a liner to avoid slippage. Also available are various options such as 100% down etc. Back cushions are made from virgin dacron sewn with a center pocket to maintain shape and comfort under the hardest of use.
EXTERIOR
- Outside backs and arms are constructed of polypropylene sheeting stretched over interlaced jute webbing. A layer of foam covers points of impact.
ARMS
- Arms are all-important. The front edge of our arm is fitted with a special rope. Behind this, the frame is covered with two layers of felt and a layer of foam for maximum durability and comfort.
SKIRTS
- "Formal" skirts are lined with pelon and then interlined to maintain a tailored appearance. "Shabby Chic" styles are lined with a single lining of pelon in order to create that "slipcover look".
TAILORING
- We strive to provide the best matching and tailoring possible. Our pieces are all individually cut. The fabric is then applied by a single qualified upholsterer - No Production Lines Here!
WEB & COIL
- We are happy to provide our customers with web and coil construction at a modest up-charge. In our web and coil construction, we place four rows of coil springs on a bed of interlaced 4" jute webbing. The springs are then tied and knotted, not looped.
